San Vigilio Di Marebbe

San Vigilio di Marebbe is located in the centre of the Dolomites. This town is not only famous for its stunning natural landscapes, but also for the Ladin culture: still today, people here talk Romanish, a very ancient language whose origins date back to ancient times. San Vigilio is located at an altitude of 1200 m, in a vast valley surrounded by the Dolomites and a natural landscape of unparalleled beauty. The protected natural areas of Sannes, Fanes, Braies surround the town Not far from San Vigilio, you can visit the villages of Rina, Longega and Pieve. San Vigilio is a renowned ski resort where you can also practice snowboard on the slopes of the so-called "panettone" whose real name is Plan de Corones Mountain. Here you can also practice carving on the slopes which seem as smooth as silk, as well as ski and snowboard. Plan de Corones is 2,275 m high and is equipped with endless ski-runs. The top of the mountain is free from trees and this is why people call it by its nick-name panettone. Don't bother about distances. The local Tourist Association has organized a shuttle service from your hotel directly to the ski slopes. During the summer, you can visit the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park and walk along 300 km trails and tracks and mountain bike trails.
