Rimini
The Comune of Rimini (Town Council of Rimini) is located on a flat area on the Adriatic coast, in the southeast region of Emilia-Romagna. Its coast is a very large beach, with shallow waters particularly suitable for swimming. The Tourist office of the Province of Rimini has organised a great event for the first weekend in July: La Notte Rosa (the Pink Night). In the wake of the city white nights, on July 1st, the Romangna Riviera dresses in pink with several events for women. Rimini is also thought for kids, so Rimini is the right place. Hotels are designed for tourists to be in contact with Nature, there are theme parks on beach organised for kids. Sports on the beach, an appointment you cannot miss, a trip to nightlife world at fashionable clubs and ethnic restaurants: every day is party time in the capital of young people. The development of Rimini, located on the Adriatic seaside near the Marecchia River, is strongly linked to tourism and the beach, which is the most important domestic economic activity. Rimini has more than 100,000 beds and millions of tourists visit it every year. Going along the sea coast full of hotels, small ports filled up with boats and beaches with endless rows of cheerfully coloured parasols, you arrive to Rimini, Miramare, Rivazzurra, Marebello and Bellaria. With all these characteristics, Rimini is so the largest, most comfortable and best-equipped European seaside resort (but not just that) and one of the main and most famous destinations in the world, as it offers infinite accommodation facilities. From the gastronomic point view, Rimini is also well-equipped with thousands of restaurants where you can taste fresh grilled fish, mixed fish- fry and fish soup. The local speciality is the piadina (flatbread typical of Romagna) with cheese, salami and sweet ham, roasted sausages, and spit-roast chicken. The (red) Sangiovese and (white) Albana wines are typical of the Rimini hills, which go perfectly well with the local cooking specialties. During summer, there are special events, lifeguards or hotel keepers organise festivals where they offer dishes and wine and spectacular fireworks. Rimini also receives tourists during the rest of the year, as they are attracted by the ancient Roman and Medieval ruins or the modern hotels offering facilities for conventions.
