Giulianova
Giulianova is an elegant seaside resort in the Abruzzo region renowned for its fine and golden beaches but also for its seafront promenade, lined with palm trees, oleanders and flowers. Giulianova is a pleasant resort not only for its mild Mediterranean climate, but also for its cultural and architectural attractions. Giulianova Lido is situated directly on the Adriatic Coast, at the foot of the Apennines, and it is the ideal place for those who want to spend all kind of holidays since it offers different natural landscapes such as the sea, the hills and the mountains. Tourists can go for excursions to the highest mountain in the Apennines, the Gran Sasso, where they can visit the National Park of Majella and the National Park of Gran Sasso, as well as the National Park of Abruzzo, surrounded by an unspoilt nature. Giulianova is situated 40 km far from Pescara Airport and the town has a remarkable selection of accommodation and sports facilities. Here you can practice tennis, swimming, sailing, windsurfing, bowls, minigolf, basket, 5-a-side football, skating. For bike lovers, there are many wood footbridges linking the various surrounding towns situated along the beautiful seafront promenade and the marvellous pinewood. The port plays an important role, especially for the fishing activities since it houses a colourful fishing market. You can go there whenever you want, to "taste" the flavour of fresh fish! Several traditional celebrations are organised in Giulianova starting in April with the Festa della Madonna (religious celebration) with a procession through the town's streets; in August the procession takes place directly on the beach, in honour of Maria SS. Del Portosalvo ending with spectacular fireworks; in September there is a celebration in honour of Maria SS. dell'Annunziata. The nearby municipalities are: Mosciano Sant'Angelo, Roseto degli Abruzzi and Tortoreto. Giulianova has a population of approximately 22,000 inhabitants, extending on a surface area of 27 square km representing a density of 791 inhabitants per square kilometre.
