Pesaro
The city of Pesaro is located in the region of the Marche, in central Italy, right on the Adriatic coast. Pesaro is one of the four Marche provinces located in the north of the region, a few kilometres away from the Emilia-Romagna region border. Pesaro rises between 2 hills- San Bartolo to the North and L’Adizio to the South. The Foglia River flows through the city of Pesaro. Pesaro’s main attraction is the sea; as a matter of fact, Pesaro and its hotels have preferred quality over quantity, and offer a premium reception. With 7 km of wide sandy beach and shallow seabed, the city’s main advantage is the distance between the historic centre and the sea- only one hundred metres. So leave your car at home and walk or bike to the sea or go shopping downtown. Talking about Hotels and accommodating facilities, Pesaro offers a wide range of options all through out the year: Hotels, Rural tourism, Guest houses, Restaurants and Bed & Breakfast. As regards convention centres, Pesaro offers important facilities such as: Campanara Exhibition centre (35,000 sqm roofed surface): the SAMP (Furniture Exhibition held every two years); BPA Palas, an indoor sports arena that can sit 12,000 people and is one of the largest in Europe. Talking about Art, Pesaro is also called “Marche’s Little Athens” because of world-famous theatre festivals such as the Rossini Opera Festival, which has been recognised as a true applied musicology workshop. In fact, the city is very popular in the field of musicology as being the birthplace of Gioacchino Rossini, the famous composer. Turning now to monuments, the fountain in Piazza del Popolo was built between 1588 and 1593 thanks to the Duke Francesco Maria II della Rovere. Do not miss San Terenzio cathedral, a church built in honour of Saint Terenzio in medieval times. Talking about economy, Pesaro stands out from the rest of Europe in the furniture sector; there are a lot of small, medium and large-sized enterprises. The city has a population of about 92,000 inhabitants. It is 156 square km in area, with a density of 717 people/km.
