The patrimony of the Lombardy Region does not stop at the thousands of businesses and factories that are to be found on its territory. One can also find artwork of inestimable value and a great variety of natural habitats.
The heart of the Region is its capital: Milan. A visit to the Duomo or Milan's famous Cathedral is obligatory and, if one doesn't suffer from heights, one can reach the pinnacle which offers a splendid view. Not far from the Duomo, one can take a walk in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. If one books very much in advance, one can also visit Leonardo da Vinci's most famous work after the Mona Lisa: The Last Supper.
One can begin from Milan and then visit the rest of the Lombardy Region. Without losing time in long journeys one can reach other cultural and historical centres: Bergamo alta, Mantova, Cremona, Brescia, and Pavia.

Among the other lakes that merit a visit, one finds: lake Garda, lake Maggiore, lago d'Iseo, lago di Varese, lago d'Idro. These lakes certainly make up for the fact that the Lombardy Region is not wet by the sea.
For the lovers of sport, the Lombardy Region offers an infinite number of opportunities. Winter sports are the most popular thanks to the great number of skiing stations and the many miles of slopes and cross country skiing tracks to be found in the Valtellina and the Vallecamonica.
Thanks to the fact that the Region is covered by the Padana plateau, one can easily and pleasantly move around the cities by bike without getting too tired.
For those who want stronger emotions one can practice aquatic sports like canyoning, rafting, canoeing and kayaking.
for those who love relaxing there are many offers regarding spa's, the most famous being the thermal baths in Sirmione and Boario.
Finally one cannot forget food and wine tourism. The Region offers a great variety of specialities: cold meats, oven products, cheeses, vegetables and, obviously, the DOC wines. And who can say that they have never heard of the Milan-style cutlet or the saffron risotto?
