The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region is a collection of small and large jewels where art, history, and the sea come together perfectly, giving inimitable panorama's.
As well as the better known cities like Trieste, Gorizia, Udine, and Pordenone, a mention and a visit are a must regarding Cividale, Spilimbergo, Tarvisio, and Aquileia which is defined the second Rome.
In the summer the tourist locations like Lignano Sabbiadoro or Grado become the destination of millions of tourists who are looking for enjoyment but also relaxation.
This Region is very populated also during the winter. Tourists who love to practice winter sports flock to the parks: Parco delle Prealpi Giulie, Parco delle Dolomiti Friulane, and Parco delle Colline Carniche.
Wellness and relaxation are also sought after in the spa's and wellness centres like those in Terme di Grado, Lignano and Arta.
As well as feasting one's eyes, one will also feast one's palate: from the first course through to the second course and on to the dessert, the typical cuisine is based on really rich and delicate flavours; particularly renowned are the cheeses, to name but one: Montasio. Also renowned is the fish of which the Adriatic is particularly rich.
For those who love to go on excursions and discover the towns and cities rich in history and monuments, there are some very particular locations around the Trieste, the Region's capital: Muggia and, obviously, the Trieste coastline with its two imposing castles: Duino and Miramare.
To be remembered that in many locations in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the tourist offices offer free bicycles and hired audio guides to help you discover the city in the most ecological and healthy way possible.
