Folgaria
Folgaria is a famous summer and winter tourist resort, located at the Southern side of Mount Cornetto. As if amid a sea of green, as far as the eye can see all around, there are fields and grassland wrapped by woods, surrounded by Alpine shepherd huts and cottages, marked by bitter testimonies of the human madness materialised in the important ruins of what used to be the fortress line on the front between Italy and Austria during the Grande Guerra (the First World War). Folgaria highlands are one of the best-known tourist areas of the Trentino region, perfectly equipped for summer holidays and snow holidays (indoor sports hall, -an ice skating centre, and a golf course). In winter, the city offers a ski circuit called Skitour dei Forti with 50 km of great slopes, equipped with artificial snow-making systems and served by 20 ski-lift facilities, among which we can mention 6 four-seater chair lifts. The Passo Coe and Forte Cherle Cross-country centres are devoted to Nordic skiing. Folgaria is also a resort visited by distinguish personalities, like Cesare Musatti, “II Grande Milanese”, father of the Italian psychoanalysis, who, until his death, felt attachedto this land.
