Falcade
Falcade, a municipality in the province of Belluno in the region of Veneto, with a population of around 2,000 inhabitants, is located in the highest part of the basin of Biois river. The local economy is mainly based on tourism and Falcade has become a well renowned winter holiday destination. Also important is the wood craft manufacturing. Visitors cramming the first class hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and restaurants come from all over the world to admire the magnificent dolomitic landscape, surrounded by the splendid peaks of Cime d'Auta and Forobon. As far as the urban development of the area, it is possible to distinguish between the ancient historical centre of Falcade Alto, perched on a mountain, and the modern centre of Piè Falcade and Caviola, extending down the valley.
