Great mountains, monuments, Churches, castles, museums, food, wine, and handicraft: the Aosta Valley Region, with its special statute, offers the tourist infinite occasions for enjoyment, relaxation, sport, and food and wine pathways.
People are used to thinking of the Valle D'Aosta Region as a place dedicated to winter sports and, in fact, there are a limitless number of winter holiday proposals on the Monte Bianco, the Gran San Bernardo, Monte Cervino, Monte Rosa, Piccolo San Bernardo, and Gran Paradiso. However, there is also a great selection of cities that offer other types of enjoyment.
Ever more tourists choose the Aosta Valley Region for their summer holidays. The mountian in the summer can be much more fun than the seaside!
For example there are many locations with open-air swimming pools like: Antey-Saint-Andrè, Aosta, Breuil-Cervinia, Brissogne, Courmayeur, Gignod, Gressoney-Saint-Jean, Pré-Saint-Didier, Saint-Vincent, Verrès.
As well as mountain sports like hiking, excursions, skiing, and snowboarding, one can also try one's hand at aquatic sports like fishing, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and canyoning.
There are also spa's and wellness centres like the thermal baths in Sain-Vincent and Pré-Saint-Didier. There are also many Hotels in the Valle D'Aosta Region that offer holiday packages completely dedicated to wellness.
For those who do not wish to renounce Art, not even on holiday, and wish to dedicate a couple of hours to the admiration of the architectural beauties of this region, in the Valle D'Aosta there are some very majestic castles like, for example: Ussel, Issogne, Forte di Bard, and Churches such as: the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Church of Arnad, the Church of Mrgex, and the Sanctuary of Plut. There are also museums, nature centres and even an Astronomy Observatory.
To get around within the Valle D'Aosta Region, as well as the usual means of transport, the cableway is a very efficient way to move. For example, to get to Chamois which is otherwise unreachable, one can only take the cableway which leaves from Buisson. In the summer one can reach Chamonix from La Palud, Courmayeur, and relish in the incredible scenery that only nature can offer.
